Business Parks
Fredericton has several low-cost, high advantage business parks that attract some of Canada’s most pioneering companies. The Runway, an 18-kilometer business park, stretches from the Fredericton’s west side to the Greater Fredericton Airport’s Aerospace and Defence Park. Just south of The Runway is Fredericton’s Knowledge Park, a joint venture with the University of New Brunswick that puts Fredericton’s leading IT companies in close proximity to high-tech research, technology transfer and business support services. Even for business located outside the business parks, advantages abound. e-Novations, a non-profit community development organization, has created a fiber optic and wireless data network that catapults the city to nation-wide leadership in terms of advanced communications infrastructure. The Fred-e Zone is a free, community-wide Wi-Fi network providing residents, visitors and businesses with mobile broadband access from virtually anywhere within the city.
Knowledge Park The Knowledge Park is designed to grow the knowledge industry in the Greater Fredericton Region. Its principal objective is to provide clustering opportunities for companies that are engaged in research, development and application of technologies related to such fields as information technology (IT), biotechnology, education, engineering, health care, forestry and agriculture. These and other technology fields are areas of expertise found at UNB that support the park's other main objective: the facilitation of technology transfer and other partnerships involving academia and the private sector.
