For the outdoors enthusiast, there are over 350 acres of parkland within city limits and over 60 kilometers of linked walking trails that serve as cross-country ski trails during the winter months. An historic train bridge converted to a walking trail links the north and south banks of the St. John River.

Just a short drive outside Greater Fredericton is a sportsman’s paradise. Every year, people from around the world are drawn to New Brunswick’s world-class salmon rivers and hunting grounds. Snowmobilers travel the province on their own highway system: hundreds of kilometers of groomed and maintained trails.


ENVIRONMENT - The Greater Fredericton Region has clean air and an abundance of fresh water. Rich green spaces and surrounding forests contribute to a healthful and pristine environment. Air quality is carefully monitored by the province and updated on-line three times per day. The Region has efficient and user-friendly waste management and recycling systems with landfills located away from residential areas.

HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES - Basic healthcare costs for Greater Fredericton residents are covered by the New Brunswick government under the Canada’s universal healthcare program. The region is served by two hospitals: the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital and the Oromocto Hospital. The Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. a teaching facility for the Dalhousie University School of Medicine, is the regional referral center for complex cases. The Oromocto Hospital is a primary and secondary care facility with an active day surgery department and breast screening clinic.
