All of the services required by new businesses are available including natural gas and Atlantic Canada’s only municipal fibre optic network and free wireless fidelity service, Fred-eZone. CONSTRUCTION - The City of Fredericton continues to experience a prolonged "boom" with the highest level of building activity in our history. In 2007, the value of construction was $119.5 million! Fredericton’s strong employment base supports a dynamic housing market, and growing commercial, industrial and institutional sectors.

Fredericton offers a wide range of affordable housing options given all the new residential construction of apartments, executive housing, newly developed subdivisions, etc. In 2006, 333 multiple unit starts amd 181 single detached starts were developed in all areas of the city.

City of Fredericton Planning Department - The City of Fredericton's Development Services Department provides service in the areas of land use planning, development control regulations, zoning, building permits and building inspections, building code enforcement, parking services, by-law enforcement, heritage and culture, and tourism. Through its division the Development Services Department strives to provide excellent customer service to residents, visitors and the development community by responding to the needs of the public quickly, efficiently and accurately.

The Department is responsible for the Capital City Municipal Plan, which is critical to the health and prosperity of the City of Fredericton. This plan establishes a broad planning framework to manage the future growth and change of the city and provides policy guidance on a variety of land use and development related issues.
